So much emphasis is placed on women looking beautiful that women go to many lengths to keep up appearances. The media bombards us with new and improved anti aging creams, eye creams, anti wrinkle creams and serums to enhance your natural beauty. We all know that we need to take care of our skin as it is the largest organ in the body after all. Cosmetics really do cost a fortune and for those on a lower income they do not feature very high on the priority list, if at all. So how do you look after your skin on a budget? Turn to the fridge and grocery cupboard and you are bound to find products that can not only nourish you from the inside but nourish your hair and skin as well. Not only that but you won’t be using products that contain unpronounceable chemicals. Mother Nature has given us a bounty of products that we can use so why not make use of them.
Let us start with water, as the essential component to life it makes sense that the body needs it. Your skin needs water to remain hydrated so drink lots of it. Water plumps up your skin, prevents it from drying out which in turn will prevent wrinkles from appearing before they are meant to. Water can be used as a spa treatment too. Hydrotherapy is one such treatment and is used to invigorate the body, it increases blood flow which leaves your skin with a healthy glow. All you need to do is take a hot shower then switch to cold water for a few seconds. Alternate between hot and cold for two minutes and you will feel alive and your skin will look great in no time. A body scrub is another treatment that you can do at home. All you need is coarse salt and baby oil or raw sugar mixed with light oil and you will have two different exfoliating scrubs that will rid your body of dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling tingly and revitalized.
Products like avocado, egg, cucumber, banana, strawberries and blue berries can all be used for face masks, hair treatments and facial creams, while Baking Soda can be used as a shampoo, teeth whitener or foot powder. Honey is a great product to keep in your cupboard, it is a good pro-biotic when eaten, its great for hair and skin treatments and can even be used to make a bubble bath. With only a few grocery items you too can have a beautiful looking skin, feel great and keep your youthful appearance without having to spend a fortune on chemically enhanced cosmetic products.
